Amid Drama, Padres Fernando Tatis Jr Shows his Respect to Clayton Kershaw

Padres Fernando Tatis Jr. does the honors to Clayton Kershaw during the middle of the play.

The stadium’s video board crew decided to display a humiliating image of a tearful Clayton Kershaw, following Kershaw and the team’s 5-2 win over the Dodgers on Friday. The Padres caused a ton of drama this weekend following their classlessness and blatant disrespect.

During the game, Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. smashed two home runs off Kershaw and danced around the bases in his trademark flair. He had nothing but admiration for one of the greatest pitchers of all time after the game, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.

“Facing one of the best all time, we’ve got to bring our best. Our lineup was fighting him from top to bottom,” Tatis Jr. said about facing Kershaw. “Like I said, he’s one of the best of all time. You’ve got to bring your best when you’re facing that guy.”

At the age of 35, he was coming off a month in which he had won the National League Pitcher of the Month Award. Kershaw, now in his 16th season in the league, just keeps getting better,The Padres video board team should learn something from him, as Kershaw has more wins in his career than the entire Padres organization.

Kershaw will face the Padres again at the end of this week, but this time at Dodger Stadium. We’ll see how the uber-confident Padres fare in round two and i don’t expect the Dodger video board to sink as low as the Padres’, but I do expect Dodger fans to enjoy themselves while the Padres are in town.
