On Sunday, the pitchers and reserves for the July 11 game between the American League and the National League were revealed.
As with a lot of young players, there’s one mainstay: Clayton Kershaw bowling left-handed for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
At the 2023 MLB All-Star Game, which will be held in Seattle, 26 players will be making their first All-Star appearance.
Clayton Kershaw, a left-handed pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, has written his name in the record books by making it to his 10th All-Star Game. Kershaw’s amazing feat puts him in a small group of the game’s best players and cements his place as one of the best pitchers of his time.
With this pick, Kershaw is second only to Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels, who has been chosen to the All-Star Game 11 times. Kershaw is always picked for the midseason classic because he is always good and never loses his control on the field.
Kershaw has constantly displayed his excellent pitching repertoire throughout his successful career, combining perfect control with deadly breaking balls and a deceptive delivery.

With the exception of San Diego Padres closer Josh Hader, who was selected for his fifth All-Star game, the National League’s pitching staff is dominated by first- or second-time All-Stars. The Midsummer Classic will feature eight players from the NL-leading Atlanta Braves, the most players from any team since the 2012 Texas Rangers and the most from an NL team since the 2008 Chicago Cubs.
Outfielder Ronald Acua Jr., shortstop Orlando Arcia and catcher Sean Murphy have been enthusiastically selected by Braves supporters to represent the NL starting lineup.
Five Braves teammates would join him; Starting pitchers Spencer Strider and Bryce Elder, first baseman Matt Olson, second baseman Ozzie Albies and third baseman Austin Riley were selected by their teammates. When the entire starting infield represented the team, it was a proud moment for Braves manager Ron Washington.
With four reserve picks each, the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles are tied for first place in the American League.
The Blue Jays would be represented by pitcher Kevin Gausman, infielders Bo Bichet, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Whit Merrifield, and the Orioles would be represented by Felix Bautista, Yenier Cano, Adley Ratschmann and Austin Hays.
The league added Seattle Mariners pitcher Luis Castillo to the AL roster to guarantee that each team had at least one representative.
The final roster also included Royals catcher Salvador Pérez, who was selected to his eighth All-Star team, Boston Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen, Detroit Tigers pitcher Michael Lorenzen, White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr., and White Sox pitcher Michael Lorenzen. Pitcher Louis Roberts is also included.
Washington Nationals pitcher Josiah Gray will be the only representative sent, along with Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Mitch Keller, who was also selected by league officials.
Surprisingly, the New York Mets, who have the highest salaries in MLB, will be represented only by first baseman and league selection Pete Alonso.
The expanded roster, consisting of 32 players instead of the traditional 26, will be used for the 2023 All-Star Game.
Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels and Ronald Acua Jr. of the Atlanta Braves emerged as the top vote-getters in their respective leagues when fan-voting starts were first released.
Ohtani’s outstanding two-way abilities have earned him a position as a two-way All-Star for the third year in a row. Fans chose him as the starting designated hitter, and players chose him to join the pitching staff.
Ohtani’s extraordinary accomplishments have cemented his position in MLB history as the league’s only two-way All-Star.
The All-Star Game will also include some excellent young talent, such as Brent Rooker of the Oakland Athletics, who was elected as the American League reserve designated hitter by his teammates. Rooker lauded the Angels’ incredible two-way sensation.
